Custom Book Nook

This project was part of a full basement remodel, working alongside Sheryl Allen Interiors in La Grange. The vision was to provide the client’s daughter a special space to relax, play and dream. We utilized previously lost space under the staircase, framing out a nook space. We added shiplap and a special cubby complete with a charging station and reading light. On the shop build side, we found the perfect storage baskets and designed a lower cabinet to house them — painting this custom Furniture piece a moody grey. The result was a wonderful getaway relaxing space, tucked under the stairs.

From The Homeowner:

First, we started by enclosing an unused space under the basement stairs.

From there, we added a custom cubby nook, electrical and ship lap.

In the Shop, we fabricated the support storage nook with custom cubby openings with intentional spacing…

…For special storage baskets. Now back to the project site.

As the project started to take shape, we installed the storage nook and added structural support for the seating deck.

In the end, the project came together as a stunning new addition to holistic basement remodel project. The homeowners were delighted and so was their young daughter!
